IT GOT APPROVED!!!

MY VISA GOT APPROVED!!

Yes i applied visa for my highschool program at Montezuma, New Mexico. This 2-year lifelong commitment to social responsibility called UWC-USA. Anyway i got my interview at Consulate General Of The United States in Surabaya. For me i had to applied for F-1 visa type. There's so much more about visa type, just gently search it at google and you gonna have enough to know. Note: This post will be about F-1 visa type, so if you're going to apply the same visa type keep on reading. If not, sorry this post wouldn't be helpful for you.

Firstly, I'm not going to talk about what Indonesian need to prepare to apply US VISA. I'll just list all the documents you'll need (to bring) for your Interview..

  1. Confirmation of your Online DS-160 Form (You need to fill this form ONLINE DS-160 Form)
  2. Proof of your payment for nonimmigrant visa ($160 via Bank CIMB Niaga after completed your DS-160 Form)
  3. Original F-1 Form (you'll get it from your school in US, for me they send me via FedEx)
  4. Proof of your payment for SEVIS fee ($200 via kartu kredit / Western Union-you can not pay via WU bcs in here they can't do the 'pay the fee' they only can do both 'send/receive money')
  5. Confirmation for Scheduled Appointment ( click this link for further information Apply US Visa in Indonesia)
  6. Photo 5x5 white background printed in colour ( full requirements Visa Photo)
  7. Passport
  8. Kartu Keluarga & Akte (addictional document they may ask)
  9. Support document for visa interview (School transcript, deposit bank, Letter of Acceptance from school, etc)
  10. Tips: Search at google about Visa US Interview Experience as much as you can
Okay That's all you need, let's jump right to the step by step of Visa Interview. Overall i would say there's six step. just read till the last step. Hopefullly this can help you as i'm sharing my personal experience today.

First Check-Up

The first time you arrived, you'll get like security check outside the building. Yes outside. They will ask you to shutdown your phone and put it in some basket with all you stuff you bring that day. This also include your bag, phone, all the document, etc. Basically what you bring that day will all be checked before you enter the building. After that you'll bring that basket with you to the secondary check-up inside the building.

Second Check-Up

In here they'll check again and then separate all you stuff which one you can bring and the one you can not. In my case, i bring some stationary and notes but they won't let me bring it. so i just bring a book to kills time while waiting for the interview and the documents.

They also give you card to enter and you should pin it to your clothes. for you phone, the'll say how many phone and you need to sign small paper that declare how many phone you have. i think it's reflect how serious and good their system. after that you'll be guide to the waiting room.

Waiting Room

When you enter the room, you'll get your queue number. There's three steps in here : Documents, Fingerprint, Interview. And this is where i wait so long.. I got there at 7.40 but then finished at 9.20. well if you see other experience about visa interview they had to wait for like 3-4 hours.. so i'll just say i'm lucky to just wait for 1hour 40minute. Anyway things you need to know is you'll be faced in a counter with the operator not in a room (like i expected). So don't be surprise if others applicants can hear your conversation with the officer whether its about documents or interview.

Counter 3 & 4

After a long wait, finally they called my queue number (115) The officer just nice. i mean not that bad but not that friendly either. They ask basic question with a little smile. In here you'll ask to give them your Confirmation of your Online DS-160 Form, Proof of your payment for nonimmigrant visa, Original F-1 Form, Proof of your payment for SEVIS fee, and your Passport. And then they'll ask you to sit down again until they called you for the fingerprint in counter 2.

Counter 2

First thing you'll notice is the officer is native but he can speak Bahasa you know? and he's more friendly than the officer in document's counter. much more friendly. But i guess speaking english is more polite and friendly than speak Bahasa when you heard it. idk but anyway, in here they just ask you to put your finger in the fingerprint readers. Then they'll ask you to sit down again and wait for the interview session.

Counter 1 & 5

this session will decide whether they approved your visa or not. this may seems intimidating but trust me, if your intention is clear an you have the supported document you'll be totally fine...  The interview it self for me it takes only 2-3 minutes. INSANE i know! my tips is don't be nervous and just answer the interviewer calmy and with your best knowledges and true information. That's all!! if your visa got approved (like me 😜) you'll receive paper with a backgroung of US Flag and contain information how to get your passport back. Usually it takes 5 working days...

funfact: the person before me got rejected because they can't answer the question properly. You should imagine how scared i am at that times.. So make sure to answer the interviewer properly!!

That's all guys, if you want to ask something just comment below and i'll answer it as much as i know. Don't be shy to ask or maybe you want to more private you can contact me in my email raradzikrinaistifadah@gmail.com. See you in my next post! i hope this post can help you in anyway you can!! Have a nice day peeps 🖤
